Early Life
Kentaji Brown Jackson was born on September 14th, to Johnny and Ellery Brown in Washington, D.C. Her parents were dedicated to creating a path of success for her, by becoming HBCU graduates and working white-collar jobs. This indeed paved the way for Kentaji, as she herself ventured into her own world of success at a young age.
In her senior year at Miami Palmetto Senior High, she won the national oratory title at the National Catholic Forensic League championships in New Orleans. This is when she was first quoted to have an interest in law and eventually judicial appointment.
Currently
Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed on 7 April as the first Black woman to serve on the US Supreme Court. This lifetime appointment was passed by 53 votes to 47 in the US Senate, with three Republicans, including Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitt Romney; demonstrating their support for the Democrats. According to her endorsement by our very own US President, Joe Biden, "Judge Jackson's confirmation was a historic moment for our nation - We've taken another step toward making our highest court reflect the diversity of America. She will be an incredible justice, and I was honored to share this moment with her."
